The Brooklyn Nets play host to the Atlanta Hawks at the Barclays Center on Friday night.
The Atlanta Hawks have been in decent form as they’ve won four of their last seven games overall and they will be looking to keep it going after sneaking past the Cavaliers in a 120-118 home win on Tuesday. Dejounte Murray led the way with 29 points and five assists, Onyeka Okongwu added 21 points, nine rebounds and three blocks off the bench while Trae Young chipped in with 16 points and 10 assists. As a team, the Hawks shot 46 percent from the field and 12 of 27 from the 3-point line as they took control of the contest with 35 points in the second quarter to build a 15-point lead, before they escaped on free throws in a tight finish after the Cavaliers erased their lead in the fourth quarter.
Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets have been in a rut as they’ve lost six of their last eight games overall, but they will be aiming for a second straight win here after taking down the Rockets in a 123-114 home win on Wednesday. Cameron Johnson led the team with 31 points, seven rebounds and five assists, Mikal Bridges added 27 points with six assists while Spencer Dinwiddie chipped in with 20 points and 11 assists. As a team, the Nets shot 53 percent from the field and 17 of 35 from the 3-point line as they went back and forth in a close contest, until they closed the final 2:52 on an 18-4 run to escape with the narrow win.
Looking at the betting trends, the Hawks are 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games and 18-40 ATS in their last 58 games following a win. The Nets are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games and 2-6 ATS in their last eight games overall.
Head to head, the Hawks are 7-3 ATS in the last 10 meetings overall.
The Hawks could be shorthanded again as Jalen Johnson and De’Andre Hunter are both questionable, while the Nets are still missing Ben Simmons. The Hawks are coming into this one fresh off a narrow win over the Cavaliers, but they haven’t been able to sustain any sort of a run this season, so it wouldn’t surprise me at all if they lost this one by 30 points. The Nets have been struggling mightily and it’s hard to get too excited about their win over the lowly Rockets, so I think I’ll go with the Hawks who are 7-3 ATS in the last 10 meetings overall.
