The Charlotte Hornets play host to the Chicago Bulls at the Spectrum Center on Friday night.
The Chicago Bulls have been in good form as they’ve won seven of their last 11 games overall, but they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after getting routed by the Lakers in a 121-110 home win on Wednesday. Nikola Vucevic led the team with 29 points, 12 rebounds and six assists on 12 of 16 shooting, DeMar DeRozan added 22 points with five assists while Coby White chipped in with 17 points and nine assists off the bench. As a team, the Bulls shot 51 percent from the field and nine of 33 from the 3-point line as they got off to a slow start and scored just 20 points in the first quarter to fall behind by 18 points which was just too much to overcome despite scoring 34 points in the fourth quarter. Patrick Beverley had a rough night as he finished scoreless on zero of five shooting while Patrick Williams scored just two points on one of seven shooting.
Meanwhile, the Charlotte Hornets have been in fine form as they’ve won four of their last five games overall and they will be aiming for a fourth straight victory after sneaking past the Thunder in a 137-134 road win on Tuesday. PJ Washington led the team with 43 points, six rebounds and five assists, Theo Maledon added 19 points with nine assists and four blocks while Svi Mykhailiuk chipped in with 18 points and eight assists. As a team, the Hornets shot 55 percent from the field and 14 of 35 from the 3-point line as they allowed 45 points in the second quarter to trail by 13 points, before they exploded for 80 points in the second half to escape with the narrow win.
Looking at the betting trends, the Bulls are 4-1-1 ATS in their last six road games, 0-3-1 ATS in their last four games against a team with a losing record and 1-4-1 ATS in their last six games overall. The Hornets are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the over is 8-3 in the last 11 meetings in Charlotte and the Bulls are 7-2 ATS in the last nine meetings overall.
The Bulls are shorthanded again as Alex Caruso, Andre Drummond and Javonte Green are all questionable, while the Hornets are still missing LaMelo Ball for this one. The Bulls have been flying under the radar a bit lately as they have been playing some of their best basketball of the season and they just took down the in-form Lakers. The Hornets have sprung to life with three wins on the trot and they were impressive in their win over the Thunder, but it took a monster game from Washington to get over the line on Tuesday and I just don’t see that happening again this season. The Bulls are a solid 7-2 ATS in the last nine meetings overall and I think that trend continues here as the Bulls take care of business.
