The Boston Celtics pay a visit to the Milwaukee Bucks at the Fiserv Forum on TNT Thursday.
The Boston Celtics have been in great shape as they’ve won seven of their last 10 games overall, but they will be hoping to bounce back here after getting thrashed by the Wizards in a 130-111 road loss on Tuesday. Jayson Tatum led the team with 28 points, nine rebounds and five assists, Jaylen Brown added 18 points while Marcus Smart chipped in with 14 points and five assists. As a team, the Celtics shot 48 percent from the field and 11 of 44 from the 3-point line, but they weren’t at their usual standards on the defensive end, and they just couldn’t keep up with the Wizards who put them behind by as many as 23 points in this one. Al Horford had a night to forget as he scored just five points on two of 10 shooting.
Meanwhile, the Milwaukee Bucks have been in fine form as they’ve won 10 of their last 13 games overall and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after blowing past the Pacers in a 149-136 road win last night. Jrue Holiday led the team with 51 points, eight rebounds and eight assists on 20 of 30 shooting, Giannis Antetokounmpo added a monster triple-double of 38 points with 17 rebounds and 12 assists while Brook Lopez chipped in with 21 points, eight rebounds and three blocks. As a team, the Bucks shot a sizzling 62 percent from the field and 10 of 25 from the 3-point line as they got off to a rapid start but couldn’t really gain any separation until the third quarter where they exploded for 46 points to pull away and earn the solid victory.
Looking at the betting trends, the Celtics are 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games, 20-8 ATS in their last 28 games against a team above .600 and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games playing on one days rest. The Bucks are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games, 10-2 ATS in their last 12 games playing on zero days rest and 1-7 ATS in their last eight games against a team above. 600.
Head to head, the over is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings overall, the Celtics are 34-16-1 ATS in the last 51 meetings overall and the Celtics are 18-7-1 ATS in the last 26 meetings in Milwaukee.
The Celtics could be shorthanded again as Payton Pritchard and Robert Williams are both questionable, while the Bucks have ruled out Meyers Lenonard again and they have Khris Middleton listed as day to day. We are in for a treat in this one as this could easily be a preview of the Eastern Conference Finals. The Celtics were on a nice run before they got stopped by the Wizards in a disappointing loss on Tuesday, but the Bucks have been the hotter team and they will be full of confidence after last night’s big win over the Pacers. Holiday is coming into this one fresh off a career game and they should have Middleton back in the lineup. You can make an argument for either side here, but the Bucks are 10-2 ATS in their last 12 games playing on zero days rest and I think they get the job done in a close one here.
