The Dallas Mavericks and the Philadelphia 76ers do battle at the Wells Fargo Center on Wednesday night.
The Dallas Mavericks have been in a rut as they’ve lost seven of their last 10 games overall, but they will be feeling better after snapping a four-game slide with a 127-104 road win over the Pacers on Monday. Luka Doncic led the team with 25 points, seven rebounds and six assists, Jaden Hardy added 20 points off the bench while Kyrie Irving chipped in with 16 points and six assists. As a team, the Mavericks shot 56 percent from the field and 18 of 37 from the 3-point line as they took the lead into halftime, before they exploded for 40 points in the third quarter to push the lead out to 31 points at one stage.
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers have been in a bit of a slump as they’ve lost four of their last five games and they will be hoping to avoid a fourth straight defeat after falling just short to the Nuggets in a 116-111 road loss on Monday. Tyrese Maxey led the team with 29 points and five assists on 12 of 21 shooting, Tobias Harris and Paul Reed each scored 16 points while Jalen McDaniels chipped in with 14 points. As a team, the 76ers shot 48 percent from the field and eight of 30 from the 3-point line as they got off to a slow start and managed just 18 points in the first quarter which had them trailing the entire game until they went on a fourth quarter rally that would end up short.
Looking at the betting trends, the Mavericks are 4-1-1 ATS in their last six road games, 5-2-1 ATS in their last eight games against a team above .600 and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games overall. The 76ers are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games, 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 11-5 ATS in their last 16 games playing on one days rest.
Head to head, the under is 6-1 in the last seven meetings in Philadelphia and the Mavericks are 7-3 ATS in the last 10 meetings overall.
The Mavericks could be shorthanded once again as Frank Ntilikina and Maxi Kleber are both questionable, while the 76ers have listed James Harden and Joel Embiid as questionable. The 76ers have cooled off lately and they could again be missing their two best players, but I still trust their supporting cast more than the Mavericks who have been hot and cold lately. This is definitely a game where you want to check the lineups before tipoff, but assuming that the 76ers get at least one All-Star back, I’ll back the home team here.
