The Miami Heat travel to Madison Square Garden to battle the New York Knicks on Wednesday night.
The Miami Heat have been in decent shape as they’ve won four of their last seven games overall, but they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after getting thrashed by the Raptors in a 106-92 road loss last night. Tyler Herro led the way with 33 points and six assists on 13 of 21 shooting, Bam Adebayo added 21 points with 12 rebounds and four assists but no other player scored more than seven points. As a team, the Heat shot just 40 percent from the field and 10 of 33 from the 3-point line as they struggled to support Herro and were never in the contest after getting outscored by 31-20 in the third quarter to fall behind by 19 points.
Meanwhile, the New York Knicks were able to put a halt to a three-game skid with a 137-115 win over the Rockets on Monday. Immanuel Quickley led the team with 40 points and nine assists on 14 of 18 shooting, Julius Randle added 26 points while RJ Barrett chipped in with 19 points and five assists. As a team, the Knicks shot 58 percent from the field and 17 of 39 from the 3-point line as they got off to a quick start and outscored the Rockets in every quarter to earn the much-needed blowout win.
Looking at the betting trends, the Heat are 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games against a team with a winning record. The Knicks are 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 home games, 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and 9-3-1 ATS in their last 13 games overall.
Head to head, the over is 5-1 in the last six meetings overall and the Heat are 11-4 ATS in the last 15 meetings in New York.
The Heat are keeping an eye on Jimmy Butler who is listed as day to day, while the Knicks have listed Jalen Brunson and Derrick Rose as questionable. The Heat have cooled off with a couple of losses in a row and everyone but Herro struggled to score in last night’s loss to the Raptors. The Knicks were able to snap out of their funk with a big win over the Rockets and I think they can build on it here, especially if Brunson is able to suit up. The Heat are 11-4 ATS in the last 15 meetings in New York, but I like the Knicks at the short line in this spot.
