The Cleveland Cavaliers pay a visit to the Atlanta Hawks at the State Farm Arena on Tuesday night.
The Cleveland Cavaliers have been in red-hot form as they’ve won nine of their last 11 games overall and they will be gunning for a fifth straight victory after routing the Rockets in a 108-91 home win on Sunday. Jarrett Allen led the team with 24 points, 14 rebounds and three blocks on eight of 11 shooting, Donovan Mitchell added 22 points while Evan Mobley chipped in with 19 points, seven rebounds and five assists. As a team, the Cavaliers shot 47 percent from the field and nine of 30 from the 3-point line as they took control right from the start and built a 16-point lead going into halftime, but this win was more about their defense as they held the Rockets to just 11 points in the fourth quarter to pull away and make it a blowout in the end.
Meanwhile, the Atlanta Hawks have been in a slump as they’ve lost five of their last eight games overall and they will be hoping to bounce back after coming up just short to the Grizzlies in a 123-119 loss on Sunday. Trae Young led the team with 28 points and 10 assists, Clint Capela added 18 points with 16 rebounds and four blocks while De’Andre Hunter chipped in with 17 points. As a team, the Hawks shot 45 percent from the field and seven of 31 from the 3-point line as they allowed the Grizzlies off to a quick start and were always playing from behind despite pouring in 63 points in the second half.
Looking at the betting trends, the Cavaliers are 7-2 ATS in their last nine games following a win of more than 10 points and 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record. The Hawks are 6-2 ATS in their last eight games following a loss, 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team above .600 and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games playing on one days rest.
Head to head, the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings overall, the Cavaliers are 0-4 ATS in the last four meetings in Atlanta and the Cavaliers are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Cavaliers are shorthanded again as Raul Neto and Dean Wade are out, while the Hawks have ruled out Jalen Johnson once again. The Cavaliers come into this one as the team in better form and also as one of the hottest teams in the league. The Hawks have had their moments this season and they’re still relatively healthy, but they’ve been well below their best lately, so I’ll stick with the more reliable Cavaliers in this spot.
