The Phoenix Suns and the Utah Jazz duke it out at the Vivint Arena on Monday night.
The Phoenix Suns have been in a slump as they’ve lost six of their last eight games overall, but they will be hoping to build some momentum here after snapping a three-game skid with a 125-105 win over the 76ers on Saturday. Devin Booker led the team with 29 points and five assists, Bismack Biyombo added 17 points with 13 rebounds and five blocks while TJ Warren chipped in with 16 points off the bench. As a team, the Suns shot 50 percent from the field and 15 of 32 from the 3-point line as they went back and forth with the 76ers for three tight quarters, before they exploded for 36 points in the fourth quarter to pull away and earn the much-needed victory to get their season back on track.
Meanwhile, the Utah Jazz have been in a rut as they’ve lost four of their last six games and they will be eager to snap a three-game skid after falling just short to the Kings in a 121-113 road loss on Saturday. Walker Kessler led the way with 31 points and 11 rebounds on 14 of 16 shooting, Ochai Agbaji added 20 points while Kelly Olynyk chipped in with 17 points, eight rebounds and 10 assists. As a team, the Jazz shot 51 percent from the field and nine of 28 from the 3-point line as they poured in 35 points in the second quarter to take the lead into halftime, before they got blown away by 35-17 in the third quarter to fall behind by 12 points which proved too much to overcome in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Suns are 0-4 ATS in their last four road games, 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games against a team with a losing record and 1-7 ATS in their last eight games overall. The Jazz are 1-4-1 ATS in their last six home games, 6-1-2 ATS in their last nine games against a team with a winning record and 7-2 ATS in their last nine games overall.
Head to head, the under is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings in Utah and the Suns are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Utah.
The Suns are still missing Kevin Durant but they should have Deandre Ayton back in the lineup, while the Jazz are still missing Jordan Clarkson, Rudy Gay and Collin Sexton while Lauri Markkanen is listed as questionable. The Suns were really struggling during their worst slump of the season before they snapped out of it with a nice win over the 76ers. The Jazz have struggled to keep their heads above water with the injuries piling up and I think those struggles will continue here as the Suns take care of business in this spot.
