The Dallas Mavericks and the Indiana Pacers duke it out at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Monday night.
The Dallas Mavericks have been in a real funk as they’ve lost seven of their last nine games overall and they will be hoping to arrest a four-game skid after getting beaten by the Hornets in a 110-104 road loss last night. Luka Doncic led the team with 40 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists, Kyrie Irving added 18 points while Tim Hardaway Jr. chipped in with 15 points off the bench. As a team, the Mavericks shot just 38 percent from the field and 19 of 49 from the 3-point line as they got off to a poor start and managed just 16 points in the first quarter to fall behind by as many as 19 points and they just couldn’t get over the hump despite pouring in 32 points in the fourth quarter.
Meanwhile, the Indiana Pacers have been in a rut as they’ve lost four of their last five games overall and they will be hoping to snap a two-game skid after getting beaten by the Hawks in a 143-130 road loss on Saturday. Jordan Nwora led the team with 33 points on 12 of 17 shooting off the bench, Tyrese Haliburton added 19 points with 13 assists while Buddy Hield chipped in with 16 points and five assists off the bench. As a team, the Pacers shot 54 percent from the field and 14 of 37 from the 3-point line as they poured in 39 points in the second quarter to take the narrow lead into halftime, but they couldn’t maintain the pace and allowed 71 points in the second half to get blown out in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Mavericks are 7-23-1 ATS in their last 31 games against a team with a losing record, 0-4 ATS in their last four games playing on zero days rest and 3-1-1 ATS in their last five games overall. The Pacers are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games following an ATS loss and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the over is 5-2 in the last seven meetings overall.
The Mavericks are shorthanded here as Luka Doncic has been ruled out, while the Pacers have listed Tyrese Haliburton and Myles Turner as questionable. The Mavericks could really do with a win to get their season back on track, but they’ve really been struggling lately and last night’s loss to the lottery-bound Hornets doesn’t do much for their confidence. The Pacers have been in poor form also and they could be missing their two best players once again, so I’ll reluctantly lean towards the Mavericks in this one behind a big game from Irving.
