The Houston Rockets and the Cleveland Cavaliers do battle at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse on Sunday night.
The Houston Rockets have been in a slump as they’ve lost seven of their last 10 games overall and they will be hoping to stop a four-game slide after getting destroyed by the Grizzlies in a 151-114 road loss on Friday. Tari Eason led the team with 21 points on nine of 13 shooting off the bench, Jabari Smith Jr and Kevin Porter Jr each scored 20 points while Jalen Green chipped in with 13 points and five assists. As a team, the Rockets shot 54 percent from the field and seven of 23 from the 3-point line as they struggled to contain the Grizzlies from the start, and they were never in the contest after getting outscored by 83-52 in a nightmare of a first half.
Meanwhile, the Cleveland Cavaliers have been in great form as they’ve won eight of their last 10 games overall and they will be gunning for a fourth straight victory after sneaking past the Nets in a 116-114 road win on Thursday. Evan Mobley led the team with 26 points, 16 rebounds and four blocks, Donovan Mitchell led the scoring with 31 points on 11 of 24 shooting while Darius Garland tallied 13 points with eight assists. As a team, the Cavaliers shot 47 percent from the field and 12 of 32 from the 3-point line as they got off to a slow start in the second half and trailed by 10 points before they closed the final 1:52 on a 12-2 run to snatch the game from the jaws of defeat in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Rockets are 5-14 ATS in their last 19 road games, 2-6 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a winning record and 3-1-1 ATS in their last five games overall. The Cavaliers are 15-5-2 ATS in their last 22 Sunday games and 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games against a team with a losing record.
Head to head, the under is 5-1 in the last six meetings overall, the Rockets are 0-4 ATS in the last four meetings in Cleveland and the Rockets are 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings overall.
The Rockets are shorthanded again as Jae’Sean Tate is out, while the Cavaliers are keeping an eye on Raul Neto who is questionable with a strained left hamstring. The Rockets have been one of the coldest teams in the league and they just allowed 151 points in their last outing, so I will happily side with the red-hot Cavaliers to continue their strong form with another win and cover at home in this spot.
