The Brooklyn Nets invade the FTX Arena to do battle with the Miami Heat on Saturday night.
The Brooklyn Nets have been in rough shape as they’ve lost six of their last eight games overall and they will be hoping to snap a five-game slide after falling just short to the Cavaliers in a 116-114 loss on Thursday. Mikal Bridges led the team with 32 points on 11 of 19 shooting, Spencer Dinwiddie added 25 points with 12 assists while Joe Harris chipped in with 15 points off the bench. As a team, the Nets shot 48 percent from the field and 12 of 34 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in control when they poured in 30 points in the third quarter to push ahead by 10 points, before they went cold in the fourth quarter to allow the Cavaliers to run them down for the second time in a row.
Meanwhile, the Miami Heat have been in decent shape as they’ve reeled off four wins in their past five outings and they will be gunning for a third straight victory after sneaking past the Knicks in a 127-120 win on Wednesday. Jimmy Butler led the team with 35 points, nine assists and four steals, Tyler Herro added 22 points while Gabe Vincent chipped in with 19 points on eight of 12 shooting. As a team, the Heat shot a healthy 57 percent from the field and 16 of 28 from the 3-point line as they took the lead in the second quarter and stayed in front by keeping the Knicks’ Julius Randle to just 15 points with four turnovers.
Looking at the betting trends, the Nets are 5-1 ATS in their last six road games, 4-0 ATS in their last four games against a team with a winning record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall. The Heat are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 home games, 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and 7-15 ATS in their last 22 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 6-2 in the last eight meetings overall and the under is 8-3 in the last 11 meetings in Miami.
The Brooklyn Nets will again be missing Seth Curry, while the Heat are keeping eyes on Caleb Martin and Kyle Lowry who are both questionable here. The Nets are struggling for form at the moment and their confidence took another hit after dropping two in a row to the Cavaliers, so I’m sticking with the more reliable Heat who have quietly been playing some of their best basketball of the season.
