The Indiana Pacers and the Toronto Raptors duke it out at the Scotiabank Arena on Wednesday night.
The Indiana Pacers have been in a rut as they’ve lost three of their last four games overall and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after coming up short to the Hornets in a 115-109 road loss on Monday. Myles Turner led the team with 20 points, seven rebounds and five assists, Buddy Hield added 20 points while Bennedict Mathurin chipped in with 18 points on seven of 10 shooting. As a team, the Pacers shot 45 percent from the field and nine of 26 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 40 points in the first quarter to lead by as many as 21 points, only to get outplayed the rest of the game as they had no answer for the Hornets’ starters. Andrew Nembhard had a quiet game of just two points on one of six shooting while TJ McConnel scored just eight points on two of nine shooting.
Meanwhile, the Toronto Raptors were starting to heat up as they had reeled off three solid wins in a row before they got stopped by the Bucks in a 118-111 road loss on Sunday. Fred VanVleet led the team with 23 points and 11 assists, OG Anunoby added 22 points on eight of 12 shooting while Jakob Poeltl chipped in with 20 points on 10 of 18 shooting. As a team, the Raptors shot 44 percent from the field and 14 of 34 from the 3-point line as they exploded for 39 points in the third quarter to take control of the contest, only to go completely cold and score just 16 points in the fourth quarter to allow the Bucks off the hook in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pacers are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games and 7-2 ATS in their last nine games overall. The Raptors are 6-0 ATS in their last six home games, 10-3 ATS in their last 13 games playing on two days rest and 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall.
Head to head, the Pacers are 14-30 ATS in the last 44 meetings in Toronto.
The Pacers could be shorthanded again as Chris Duarte and Tyrese Haliburton are both questionable, while the Raptors are keeping an eye on Scottie Barnes who is listed as questionable for this one. The Pacers have cooled off since Haliburton again and I think they will be struggling again if he isn’t able to suit up. With that being said, I thin k I will stick with the more consistent Raptors who are 6-0 ATS in their last six home games. The Pacers are only 14-30 ATS in the last 44 meetings overall and I think that trend continues here as the Raptors take care of business at home.
