The Denver Nuggets travel to the Capital One Arena to battle the Washington Wizards on Wednesday night.
The Denver Nuggets have been in a slump as they’ve lost five of their last seven games overall, but they will be looking to build some momentum again after beating the Nets in a 108-102 road win on Sunday. Michael Porter Jr. led the team with 28 points, nine rebounds and three assists, Jamal Murray added 25 points with eight assists while Nikola Jokic racked up a triple-double of 22 points with 17 rebounds and 10 assists. As a team, the Nuggets shot 52 percent from the field and 12 of 23 from the 3-point line as they jumped all over the Nets from the start and built themselves a 22-point lead which proved to be just enough to hold off the Nets who rallied in the fourth quarter to make it interesting late.
Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards have been in a real funk as they’ve lost seven of their last nine games overall and they will be hoping to snap a two-game skid after getting routed by the Kings in a 132-118 loss on Saturday. Kyle Kuzma led the team with 33 points, seven rebounds and three assists, Bradley Beal added 20 points while Corey Kispert chipped in with 13 points. As a team, the Wizards shot 45 percent from the field and 13 of 36 from the 3-point line, but they were poor on the defensive end and were always fighting an uphill battle after allowing the Kings to pour in 71 points in the first half.
Looking at the betting trends, the Nuggets are 6-2 ATS in their last eight games playing on two days rest and 2-6 ATS in their last eight games overall. The Wizards are 0-4 ATS in their last four games against a team with a winning record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the over is 5-1 in the last six meetings overall and the Nuggets are 3-8 ATS in the last 11 meetings in Washington.
The Nuggets are still missing Collin Gillespie, while the Wizards are still without Kyle Kuzma. The Nuggets are mired in their worst slump of the season, but they were able to snap out of it with a much-needed win over the Nets and they would love to keep it going with another win over this struggling Wizards squad. The Nuggets aren’t playing their best basketball, but they are still playing better than the Wizards and I think they can get the job done on the road in this one.
