The New York Knicks pay a visit to the Miami Heat at the FTX Arena on Wednesday night.
The New York Knicks have been in great form as they’ve won 12 of their last 16 games overall, but they will be hoping to bounce back into form here after having their three-game win streak halted by the Timberwolves in a 140-134 loss on Monday. Julius Randle led the team with a career-high 57 points on 19 of 29 shooting, Jalen Brunson added 23 points with 10 assists while Immanuel Quickley chipped in with 19 points off the bench. As a team, the Knicks shot 56 percent from the field and 14 of 28 from the 3-point line as they poured in 38 points in the third quarter to erase a 17-point deficit, only to go cold in the fourth quarter and allow the Timberwolves to escape in a close finish.
Meanwhile, the Miami Heat have been in pretty good shape as they’ve won six of their last nine games overall and they will be hoping to stay warm after beating the Pistons in a 112-100 road win on Sunday. Jimmy Butler led the team with 26 points and 10 assists on eight of 11 shooting, Bam Adebayo added 22 points with 10 rebounds and five assists while Tyler Herro chipped in with 19 points, six rebounds and four assists. As a team, the Heat shot 48 percent from the field and 13 of 39 from the 3-point line as they found themselves in trouble when they leaked 34 points in the third quarter to trail by seven points, before they exploded for 38 points in the fourth quarter to make it look easy in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Knicks are 35-16 ATS in their last 51 road games, 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a winning record and 11-4-1 ATS in their last 16 games overall. The Heat are 3-9 ATS in their last 12 home games, 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games against a team with a winning record and 6-15 ATS in their last 21 games overall.
Head to head, the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings overall and the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings in Miami.
The Knicks were playing some of their best basketball of the season before they ran into the Timberwolves in their last outing, but they are still opening as the underdogs here despite being just about at full health. The Heat are also in pretty good form lately, but they could be shorthanded again with Kyle Lowry listed as questionable. Two of the best defensive teams in the league collide in this one, so I’m expecting a close, low-scoring affair with the Knicks coming out on top in the end.
