The Cleveland Cavaliers pay a visit to the Brooklyn Nets at the Barclays Center on Tuesday night.
The Cleveland Cavaliers have been in great form as they’ve won six of their last eight games overall and they will be eager to stay hot after blowing past the Wizards in a 117-94 home win on Friday. Darius Garland led the team with 24 points and nine assists on 11 of 19 shooting, Evan Mobley and Donovan Mitchell scored 20 points each while Caris LeVert chipped in with 15 points off the bench. As a team, the Cavaliers shot 55 percent from the field and just four of 19 from the 3-point line as they jumped all over the Wizards from the start and poured in 61 points in the first half to take the early lead, before they finished with a flurry in the fourth quarter to pull away and make it a blowout.
Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets have gone off the boil lately as they are now hoping to avoid a fourth straight defeat after falling just short to the Nuggets in a 108-102 loss on Sunday. Mikal Bridges led the team with 23 points on eight of 18 shooting, Nic Claxton added 19 points on nine of 12 shooting while Cam Johnson chipped in with 14 points, six rebounds and four steals. As a team, the Nets shot 46 percent from the field and 12 of 35 from the 3-point line as they got off to a terrible start and managed just 21 points in the first quarter to fall behind by 22 points which was just too much to overcome despite scoring 31 points in a fourth quarter rally.
Looking at the betting trends, the Cavaliers are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games following a win of more than 10 points. The Nets are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 home games, 4-0 ATS in their last four games against a team with a winning record and 6-0 ATS in their last six games overall.
Head to head, the over is 6-2 in the last eight meetings overall and the Cavaliers are 3-7-1 ATS in the last 11 meetings in Brooklyn.
The Cavaliers are going to be shorthanded again as Jarrett Allen is questionable for this one, while the Nets have ruled out Ben Simmons again and they have Dorian Finney-Smith listed as questionable. The Cavaliers are coming into this meeting with plenty of momentum and they will be fully rested as they haven’t played since their dominant win over the Wizards on Friday. The Nets have cooled off with three losses on the trot, but they are still 8-2 ATS in their last 10 home games and 6-0 ATS in their last six games overall. You can make an argument for either side here, but with the line so short, I’ll stick with the more consistent Cavaliers to escape with the win and cover in this spot.
