The Minnesota Timberwolves travel to Madison Square Garden to take on the New York Knicks on Monday night.
The Minnesota Timberwolves have been in a slump as they’ve lost five of their last six games overall and they will be hoping to snap a three-game skid after getting routed by the Raptors in a 122-107 road loss on Saturday. Naz Reid led the team with 22 points on eight of 10 shooting off the bench, Jaden McDaniels added 18 points while Kyle Anderson chipped in with 12 points, seven rebounds and five assists. As a team, the Timberwolves shot 45 percent from the field and five of 23 from the 3-point line as they did a nice job of staying within striking distance for a majority of the game thanks to a big game from Reid off the bench, but the starters struggled to find their offense and simply got outscored in every quarter. Taurean Prince had a night to forget as he scored just four points on one of seven shooting.
Meanwhile, the New York Knicks have been in red-hot form lately as they’ve won 12 of their last 15 games overall and they will be gunning for a fourth straight victory after sneaking past the Nuggets in a 116-110 win on Saturday. Jalen Brunson led the team with 24 points and five assists, RJ Barrett added 21 points on eight of 13 shooting while Julius Randle chipped in with 20 points, seven rebounds and four assists. As a team, the Knicks shot 49 percent from the field and nine of 32 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in trouble when they surrendered a 13-point lead going into halftime, before they clamped down defensively and held the Nuggets to just 43 points in the second half to earn the gritty win in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Timberwolves are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games and 13-6 ATS in their last 19 games against a team with a winning record. The Knicks are 4-1-1 ATS in their last six games against a team with a losing record, 6-1-1 ATS in their last eight home games and 11-3-1 ATS in their last 15 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 7-1 in the last eight meetings overall, the Timberwolves are 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings in New York and the Timberwolves are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Timberwolves could be shorthanded once again as Naz Reid, Rudy Gobert, Austin Rivers and Anthony Edwards are all questionable, while the Knicks are coming into this one without a single player on the injury report. The Timberwolves have really gone cold lately, they just got blown out by the Raptors and could be without most of their starting lineup for this one. The Knicks have been one of the hottest teams in the league and they will be full of confidence after taking down the Nuggets in their last outing. The Timberwolves are only 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings in New York and I’m backing that trend to continue here as the Knicks should be too good in this spot.
