The Indiana Pacers pay a visit to the Charlotte Hornets at the Spectrum Center on Monday night.
The Indiana Pacers have been in decent form as they’ve won four of their last seven games overall, but they will be looking to bounce back in this one after getting destroyed by the 76ers in a 141-121 loss on Saturday. Aaron Nesmith led the team with 25 points on nine of 16 shooting, Andrew Nembhard added 22 points on nine of 14 shooting while Myles Turner chipped in with 20 points. As a team, the Pacers shot 51 percent from the field and 12 of 31 from the 3-point line but their problems were on the defensive end as they allowed at least 34 points in every quarter as the 76ers were allowed to shoot over 61 percent from the field for the game.
Meanwhile, the Charlotte Hornets have been in a real funk as they’ve lost seven of their last nine games overall and they will be hoping to arrest a four-game skid after getting routed by the 76ers in a 121-82 loss on Friday. Terry Rozier led the team with 14 points and four assists, PJ Washington added 12 points while Kelly Oubre Jr. chipped in with 11 points on two of 12 shooting. As a team, the Hornets shot a miserable 33 percent from the field and five of 35 from the 3-point line as they leaked 66 points in the first half to fall behind by double-digits and things only got worse in the second half where they managed just 28 points to get completely blown out in the end. Dennis Smith Jr had a night to forget as he scored just five points on two of 11 shooting off the bench.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pacers are 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games, 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team below .400 and 7-2 ATS in their last nine games overall. The Hornets are 1-5 ATS in their last six home games, 5-11 ATS in their last 16 games against a team with a losing record.
Head to head, the over is 12-3-1 in the last 16 meetings in Charlotte, the Pacers are 1-7 ATS in the last eight meetings overall and the Pacers are 4-12 ATS in the last 16 meetings in Charlotte.
The Pacers are shorthanded again as Tyrese Haliburton is still listed as out while Chris Duarte, Bennedict Mathurin and Isaiah Jackson are all questionable. The Hornets are almost at full health except for LaMelo Ball who is out for the rest of the season. The Pacers were on a nice run before they got stopped in their tracks by the 76ers in their last outing, while the Hornets have been struggling ever since they lost Ball for the season. The Pacers are 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games and I think that trend continues here as they get enough players back in the lineup to take down this struggling Hornets squad.
