The Phoenix Suns travel to the Paycom Center to do battle with the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday afternoon.
The Phoenix Suns have been in decent shape as they’ve won five of their last eight games overall and they will be hoping to maintain that momentum after snapping a three-game skid with a 116-113 win over the Magic on Thursday. Devin Booker led the team with 19 points, Cameron Payne added 18 points off the bench while DeAndre Ayton and Chris Paul chipped in with 16 points apiece. As a team, the Suns shot 47 percent from the field and 13 of 35 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in trouble when they surrendered a 12-point lead in the fourth quarter before they drained free throws down the stretch to escape with the narrow win.
Meanwhile, the Oklahoma City Thunder have been in fine form as they’ve won six of their last eight games overall and they will be hoping to bounce back here after having their three-game win streak halted by the Raptors in a 128-111 road loss on Thursday. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the team with 29 points on 12 of 19 shooting, Jalen Williams added 15 points while Josh Giddey chipped in with 13 points on six of 11 shooting. As a team, the Thunder shot just 42 percent from the field and 13 of 31 from the 3-point line as they rode the hot hand of Gilgeous-Alexander to hang with the Raptors in the first half, only to get blown out by 35-24 in the fourth quarter to lose big in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Suns are 5-1 ATS in their last six road games, 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall. The Thunder are 4-0 ATS in their last four home games, 2-6-1 ATS in their last nine games against a team with a winning record and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games overall.
Head to head, the over is 18-5 in the last 23 meetings in Oklahoma City, the Suns are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in Oklahoma City and the Suns are 3-1-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Suns are still missing Kevin Durant and DeAndre Ayton, while the Thunder are still without Kenrich Williams. The Suns were struggling for a while there before they snapped out of it with a win over the Magic on Thursday, but they are shorthanded again and are up against a Thunder team who have been playing some good basketball lately. The Thunder are 4-0 ATS in their last four home games and the Suns are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in Oklahoma City, so I will be leaning towards the Thunder in this spot.
