The Orlando Magic travel to the Crypto.com Arena to take on the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday afternoon.
The Orlando Magic have been in a slump as they’ve lost five of their last six games overall and they will be hoping to snap a two-game skid after falling painfully short to the Suns in a 116-113 road loss on Thursday. Markelle Fultz led the team with 25 points, seven rebounds and nine assists, Paolo Banchero added 18 points with eight rebounds and three assists while Cole Anthony chipped in with 17 points off the bench. As a team, the Magic shot 50 percent from the field and eight of 28 from the 3-point line as they worked hard to erase a 12-point deficit in the fourth quarter, only to finish up just short as the Suns escaped on free throws.
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Clippers have been building nicely as they are now aiming for a fifth straight victory after taking down the Warriors in a 134-126 win on Wednesday. Kawhi Leonard led the team with 30 points, eight rebounds and five assists, Paul George added 24 points with seven assists while Ivica Zubac chipped in with 19 points and 16 rebounds. As a team, the Clippers shot 47 percent from the field and 16 of 34 from the 3-point line as they went back and forth with the Warriors until the second half where they poured in 73 points to escape with the win despite 50 points from the Warriors’ Stephen Curry.
Looking at the betting trends, the Magic are 16-7 ATS in their last 23 road games, 17-7 ATS in their last 24 games against a team with a winning record and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games overall. The Clippers are 4-0 ATS in their last four games against a team with a losing record and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the under is 17-6-3 in the last 26 meetings overall and the Magic are 9-4-1 ATS in the last 14 meetings in Los Angeles.
The Magic are still missing Jonathan Isaac and Jalen Suggs, while the Clippers have ruled out Norman Powell and Kawhi Leonard. The Magic have been playing well below their best lately, but they were more than competitive in their narrow loss to the Suns on Thursday so they will like their chances coming into this one. However, the Clippers are finally in a bit of a groove and they start as favorites despite the absence of Leonard. The Magic hold the edge in betting trends, but I think the line is short enough to take the Clippers here.
