The Golden State Warriors invade the State Farm Arena to do battle with the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night.
The Golden State Warriors have been in a rut as they’ve lost four of their last six games overall and they will be hoping to bounce back here after getting beaten by the Clippers in a 134-126 road loss on Wednesday. Stephen Curry led the team with a season-high 50 points on 20 of 28 shooting, Jordan Poole added 19 points and five assists off the bench while Klay Thompson chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Warriors shot 55 percent from the field and 17 of 36 from the 3-point line as they kept pace with the Clippers in a close contest until the Clippers used a pivotal 7-0 run in the fourth quarter to pull away and escape with the narrow win.
Meanwhile, the Atlanta Hawks have been in a rut of their own as they’ve lost four of their last six games overall and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after getting thrashed by the Timberwolves in a 136-115 loss on Monday. Trae Young led the team with 41 points and seven assists on 15 of 25 shooting, Onyeka Okongwu added 16 points with 14 rebounds off the bench while De’Andre Hunter chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Hawks shot 45 percent from the field and just four of 22 from the 3-point line, but they weren’t switched on defensively to start the game and were always fighting an uphill battle after getting outscored by 76-49 in the first half. Bogdan Bogdanovic had a night to forget as he scored just two points on one of eight shooting off the bench.
Looking at the betting trends, the Warriors are 16-35-1 ATS in their last 52 road games and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games following a loss. The Hawks are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games, 5-1 ATS in their last six games following a loss of more than 10 points and 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record.
Head to head, the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings overall and the Warriors are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in Atlanta.
The Warriors are shorthanded once again as Andrew Wiggins and Draymond Green are both out and they are keeping an eye on Stephen Curry who is questionable due to left thumb soreness. The Hawks don’t have a single player listed on their injury report, but that hasn’t translated into success as they are coming into this one in poor form and fresh off a 21-point loss to the Timberwolves. The Warriors come into this meeting as the team in better form, but they are vulnerable if Green and Curry don’t suit up, so I might go with the Hawks to take advantage in this spot.
