The Denver Nuggets pay a visit to the Detroit Pistons at the Little Caesars Arena on Thursday night.
The Denver Nuggets have gone off the boil lately as they are now hoping to put a halt to a four-game skid after getting routed by the Raptors in a 125-110 road loss on Tuesday. Nikola Jokic led the way with 28 points, eight rebounds and seven assists, Michael Porter Jr. added 23 points on eight of 13 shooting, Aaron Gordon tallied 18 points while Jamal Murray chipped in with 14 points and nine assists. As a team, the Nuggets shot 55 percent from the field and just six of 25 from the 3-point line, but they got off to a poor start and were always fighting an uphill battle after allowing the Raptors to pour in a ridiculous 49 points in the first quarter.
Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons have been in terrible form as they’ve lost 12 of their last 13 games overall and they will be hoping for a better performance after getting thrashed by the Wizards in a 117-97 road loss on Tuesday. Killian Hayes led the team with 20 points and seven assists on 10 of 21 shooting, Rodney McGruder added 16 points while James Wiseman chipped in with 12 points and 10 rebounds. As a team, the Pistons shot just 38 percent from the field and 10 of 34 from the 3-point line as they suffered another slow start and got outscored by 38-20 in the first quarter, before they leaked another 33 points in the third quarter to trail by as many as 25 points at one stage.
Looking at the betting trends, the Nuggets are 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a loss of more than 10 points and 0-5 ATS in their last five games overall. The Pistons are 0-5 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Head to head, the under is 6-2 in the last eight meetings in Detroit, the Nuggets are 3-7 ATS in the last 10 meetings overall and the Nuggets are 6-13 ATS in the last 19 meetings in Detroit.
The Pistons are going to be shorthanded once again as Alec Burks, Isaiah Livers, Bojan Bogdanovic and Jaden Ivey are all out, while the Nuggets are still missing Collin Gillespie. The Nuggets were running through teams the entire season, but they’ve suddenly hit a rut with four losses on the trot. The Pistons are probably the coldest team in the league, they’re missing a bunch of players and are clearly in tank mode. The Nuggets need a big win to get their season back on track and I think they’ve found the ideal opponent.
