The Denver Nuggets invade the Scotiabank Arena to take on the Toronto Raptors on Tuesday night.
The Denver Nuggets have gone off the boil lately as they are now hoping to snap a three-game skid after falling short to the Nets in a 122-120 loss on Sunday. Nikola Jokic led the team with a monster triple-double of 35 points with 20 rebounds and 11 assists, Michael Porter Jr added 23 points on nine of 12 shooting while Jamal Murray chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Nuggets shot 50 percent from the field and 12 of 31 from the 3-point line as they scored just 18 points in the third quarter to squander a 10-point lead, before they rallied back from a 15-point deficit, only to come up painfully short in the end.
Meanwhile, the Toronto Raptors have been in a rut as they’ve lost four of their last five games overall and they will be hoping to snap a three-game skid after getting beaten by the Lakers in a 122-112 road loss on Friday. Scottie Barnes led the team with 32 points, nine rebounds and seven assists, OG Anunoby added 31 points with five steals while Jakob Poeltl chipped in with 17 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. As a team, the Raptors shot 50 percent from the field and 10 of 28 from the 3-point line as they held the Lakers to just 15 points in the third quarter to build a 15-point lead, only to get blown out by 37-22 in the fourth quarter to allow the Lakers off the hook in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Nuggets are 1-4 ATS in their last five games playing on one days rest and 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall. The Raptors are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 home games, 6-2 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a winning record and 4-0 ATS in their last four games against a team above .600.
Head to head, the over is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings in Toronto, the Nuggets are 11-4 ATS in the last 15 meetings overall and the Nuggets are 8-2 ATS in the last 10 meetings in Toronto.
The Nuggets have gone cold with three straight losses, but you can’t point the finger of blame at Jokic who is coming off yet another massive triple-double for his team. The Raptors are in similar form and they are a solid 9-3 ATS in their last 12 home games, but the Nuggets have dominated this matchup as they are 8-2 ATS in the last 10 meetings in Toronto. With that being said, I’m going lean towards the Nuggets to bounce back into form with a win here.
