The Atlanta Hawks play host to the Minnesota Timberwolves at the State Farm Arena on Monday night.
The Minnesota Timberwolves have been in a slump as they’ve lost five of their last eight games overall and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after getting stopped by the Nets in a 124-123 overtime loss on Friday. Anthony Edwards led the team with 32 points on 12 of 26 shooting, Rudy Gobert added 26 points with 13 rebounds and four assists while Jaden McDaniels and Kyle Anderson each scored 15 points. As a team, the Timberwolves shot 49 percent from the field and nine of 30 from the 3-point line as they restricted the Nets to just 17 points in the fourth quarter to overcome a nine-point deficit, only to come up painfully short in overtime as they missed on the game-winner with time expiring.
Meanwhile, the Atlanta Hawks have been in a bit of a rut as they’ve lost three of their last five games and they will be looking to bounce back here after getting beaten by the Celtics in a 134-125 loss on Saturday. Trae Young led the way with 35 points and 13 assists, Saddiq Bey added 17 points off the bench while DeAndre Hunter chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Hawks shot 50 percent from the field and 10 of 34 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 38 points in the first quarter, but they couldn’t maintain that pace and fell behind by as many as 16 points before they poured in 36 points in the fourth quarter to keep the margin at single digits.
Looking at the betting trends, the Timberwolves are 2-7 ATS in their last nine games playing on two days rest, 4-1 ATS in their last five road games and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games following a loss. The Hawks are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games following a loss and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games playing on one days rest.
Hea to head, the over is 7-2 in the last nine meetings overall, the Timberwolves are 0-5 ATS in the last five meetings overall and the Timberwolves are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in Atlanta.
The Timberwolves are shorthanded again as Jalen Nowell is out and Austin Rives and Rudy Gobert are both questionable, while the Hawks are keeping an eye on Bogdan Bogdanovic who is listed as questionable for this one. The Timberwolves have been below their best lately, they could be missing some players and they are only 0-5 ATS in the last five meetings overall, With that being said, the Hawks have been struggling as well, but they are almost at full health and I think they can take care of business at home in this spot.
