The Indiana Pacers and the Detroit Pistons duke it out once again at Little Caesars Arena on Monday night.
The Indiana Pacers have been in fine form as they’ve won six of their last nine games overall and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after sneaking past the Pistons in a 121-115 road win on Saturday. Jalen Smith led the team with 20 points, nine rebounds and two blocks, Isaiah Jackson and Andrew Nembhard each scored 19 points while Buddy Hield chipped in with 17 points. As a team, the Pacers shot 46 percent from the field and nine of 35 from the 3-point line as they jumped all over the Pistons from the start and poured in 69 points in the first half to build a 16-point lead. However, they allowed the Pistons back into the contest in the third quarter and needed another run in the fourth quarter to escape with the narrow win in the end.
Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons have been in a terrible slump as they’ve lost 14 of their last 15 games overall and they will be hoping to arrest an 11-game slide after falling short to the Pacers on Saturday. Isaiah Livers led the team with 18 points, Killian Hayes added 17 points with 13 assists while James Wiseman and Jalen Duren scored 16 points apiece. As a team, the Pistons shot 45 percent from the field and 11 of 34 from the 3-point line as they poured in 33 points in the third quarter to erase a 16-point deficit, only to come up short in the fourth quarter to allow the Pacers off the hook in a tight finish.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pacers are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games, 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games against a team playing on one days rest and 7-2 ATS in their last nine games overall. The Pistons are 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a loss and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall.
Hea to head, the under is 6-1 in the last seven meetings in Detroit and the Pacers are 3-7 ATS in the last 10 meetings in Detroit.
The Pacers are going to be shorthanded again as Myles Turner, Tyrese Haliburton and Bennedict Mathurin are all out, while the Pistons are still without Isaiah Stewart, Hamidou Diallo and Marvin Bagley. The Pacers are coming in as the team in better form which isn’t surprising given how poor the Pistons have been lately, but the Pacers are going to be severely depleted which makes this one a bit trickier. I’d usually side with the Pacers if they weren’t missing so many players, but the Pistons could see this as a game to steal, so I might take the Pistons with the points in this spot.
