The Brooklyn Nets pay a visit to the Denver Nuggets at the Ball Arena on Sunday afternoon.
The Brooklyn Nets are starting to heat up now as they’ve won four of their past five games overall and they will be eager to stay hot after outlasting the Timberwolves in a 124-123 overtime road win on Friday. Mikal Bridges led the team with 34 points on 13 of 24 shooting, Spencer Dinwiddie added 29 points with 11 assists while Cam Johnson chipped in with 18 points. As a team, the Nets shot 46 percent from the field and 16 of 34 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in trouble when they squandered a nine-point lead in the fourth quarter, but they made up for it in overtime thanks to Dorian Finney-Smith who made the go-ahead 3-pointer with just 36.1 seconds left on the clock.
Meanwhile, the Denver Nuggets have been in fine form as they’ve won eight of their last 11 games overall, but they will be hoping to bounce back in this one after falling short to the slumping Spurs in a 128-120 road loss on Friday. Nikola Jokic led the team with a triple-double of 37 points with 11 rebounds and 11 assists, Jamal Murray added 24 points with six rebounds and seven assists while Aaron Gordon chipped in with 14 points. As a team, the Nuggets shot 48 percent from the field and 13 of 35 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 38 points in the first quarter to jump out to an early 15-point lead, but they leaked 42 points in the second quarter to fall behind going into halftime, before getting outscored in the second half to lose their second in a row.
Looking at the betting trends, the Nets are 4-0 ATS in their last four road games, 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games following a win and 5-0 ATS in their last five games overall. The Nuggets are 7-2 ATS in their last nine home games, 16-5 ATS in their last 21 games against a team with a winning record and 2-6 ATS in their last eight Sunday games.
Head to head, the over is 3-0-1 in the last four meetings overall and the Nets are 12-4-1 ATS in the last 17 meetings overall.
The Nets are still shorthanded as Ben Simmons is still out, while the Nuggets are still missing Collin Gillespie. The Nets are coming into this meeting with plenty of momentum and they would’ve taken so much confidence from their gritty overtime win over the Timberwolves on Friday, while the Nuggets have gone off the boil with two bad losses in a row. I’m sure the Nuggets will come out swinging and I like them to get the win at home, but the line is quite hefty and the Nets are 12-4-1 ATS in the last 17 meetings overall, so I’m leaning towards the Nets and the points in this spot.
