The Cleveland Cavaliers invade the Spectrum Center to take on the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday night.
The Cleveland Cavaliers have been in decent form as they’ve won four of their last six games overall, but they will be looking to bounce back here after having their three-game win streak snapped by the Heat in a 119-115 road loss on Friday. Donovan Mitchell led the team with 42 points on 15 of 30 shooting, Isaac Okoro and Caris LeVert each scored 16 points while Evan Mobley chipped in with 12 points. As a team, the Cavaliers shot 46 percent from the field and 18 of 43 from the 3-point line as they poured in 33 points in the second quarter to take a 14-point lead, only to get blown out by 37-26 in the fourth quarter to come up short in the end.
Meanwhile, the Charlotte Hornets have been in a bit of a rut as they’ve lost four of their last six games overall and they will be hoping for a better performance after coming up short to the Jazz in a 119-111 loss last night. Kelly Oubre Jr. led the team with 24 points, Terry Rozier added 22 points with eight assists while PJ Washington chipped in with 18 points. As a team, the Hornets shot just 40 percent from the field and 17 of 40 from the 3-point line as they got off to a poor start and managed just 20 points in the second quarter to fall behind by nine points going into halftime and things only got worse in the third quarter where they allowed 39 points to fall behind by as many as 23 points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Cavaliers are 15-4-2 ATS in their last 21 Sunday games and 7-2 ATS in their last nine games against a team with a losing record. The Hornets are 1-3-1 ATS in their last five games playing on zero days rest and 0-6 ATS in their last six games against a team above .600.
Head to head, the under is 6-1 in the last seven meetings in Charlotte and the Cavaliers are 8-2 ATS in the last 10 meetings in Charlotte.
The Cavaliers could be shorthanded in this one as Jarrett Allen and Darius Garland are both listed as questionable, while the Hornets are still missing LaMelo Ball and Mark Williams. The Cavaliers come into this meeting as the team in better form and they really shouldn’t have too much trouble getting past this Hornets team who have so little to play for at this stage of the season. The Hornets are also playing their second game of a back to back set, so I’ll back the Cavaliers who are 8-2 ATS in the last 10 meetings in Charlotte.
