The New York Knicks pay a visit to the Los Angeles Clippers at the Crypto.com Arena on Saturday.
The New York Knicks were in red-hot form as they had won 11 of 13 games overall, but they are now hoping to snap a two-game skid after coming up short against the Kings in a 122-117 road loss on Thursday. Julius Randle led the team with 23 points, 10 rebounds and five assists, RJ Barrett led the scoring with 25 points while Jalen Brunson and Quentin Grimes each scored 19 points. As a team, the Knicks shot just 41 percent from the field and 13 of 50 from the 3-point line, but their problems were on the defensive end as they just left themselves too much ground to make up after allowing the Kings to explode for 69 points in the first half. Immanuel Quickley had a night to forget as he finished with just three points on one of 11 shooting off the bench.
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Clippers look to have moved on from their five-game slide as they are now aiming for a third straight victory after taking down the Raptors in a 108-100 win on Wednesday. Kawhi Leonard led the team with 24 points, 12 rebounds and four assists, Paul George added 23 points while Ivica Zubac chipped in with 17 points on seven of eight shooting. As a team, the Clippers shot 54 percent from the field and just six of 20 from the 3-point line as they got off to a slow start and scored just 17 points in the first quarter to fall behind early, before they poured in 66 points in the second and third quarters combined to earn the much-needed victory.
Looking at the betting trends, the Knicks are 32-12 ATS in their last 44 road games, 6-1 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record and 8-2-1 ATS in their last 11 games overall. The Clippers are 2-5 ATS in their last seven home games, 1-5 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Head to head, the over is 7-2 in the last nine meetings overall and the Knicks are 10-4 ATS in the last 14 meetings in Los Angeles.
The Knicks are going to be shorthanded here as Jalen Brunson is out with a sore foot, while the Clippers will again be missing Norman Powell. The Knicks have cooled off from their hot run of form, but they were more than competitive in a narrow loss to the surging Kings on Thursday. The Clippers are finally starting to build some momentum with a couple of wins on the trot and they should be well-rested as they haven’t played since Wednesday, so I’m backing them to beat the Knicks who aren’t nearly as good without Brunson steering the offense.
