The Utah Jazz travel to the Spectrum Center to take on the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday night.
The Utah Jazz have been in poor form as they’ve lost five of their last eight games overall, but they will be feeling much better after arresting a four-game skid with a 131-124 road win over the Magic on Thursday. Lauri Markkanen led the team with 31 points on 11 of 22 shooting, Talen Horton-Tucker added 23 points with eight assists while Simone Fontecchio chipped in with 17 points on five of seven shooting off the bench. As a team, the Jazz shot a healthy 55 percent from the field and 13 of 34 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in trouble after leaking 41 points in the third quarter to squander a 15-point lead, but they dominated the fourth quarter with 34 points to escape with the much-needed victory.
Meanwhile, the Charlotte Hornets have been in pretty good form lately as they’ve won seven of their last 10 games overall and they will be gunning for a third straight win after beating the Pistons in a 113-103 road win on Thursday. Kelly Oubre Jr led the team with 27 points on nine of 16 shooting, Terry Rozier added 21 points with nine assists while PJ Washington chipped in with 20 points. As a team, the Hornets shot 50 percent from the field and eight of 24 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 31 points in the first quarter to take the early lead and they just didn’t take their foot off the gas until they led by 18 points in the third quarter.
Looking at the betting trends, the Jazz are 5-2-1 ATS in their last eight road games, 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games against a team below .400 and 6-1 ATS in their last seven games playing on one days rest. The Hornets are 7-1 ATS in their last eight games following a win and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall.
Head to head, the over is 5-2 in the last seven meetings in Charlotte and the Jazz are 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings overall.
The Jazz have ruled out Collin Sexton again and they are keeping an eye on Jordan Clarkson who is questionable, while the Hornets are still without LaMelo Ball. The Jazz have been playing well below their best lately, but they were able to get back in the win column with a good performance against the Magic and they will fancy their chances against this Hornets team who have little to play for at this stage of the season. You couldn’t back either team with too much confidence these days, but the Jazz are 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings overall and I think that trend continues here as the Jazz get the job done.
