The Boston Celtics and the Atlanta Hawks collide at the State Farm Arena on Saturday night.
The Boston Celtics have been in a rut as they’ve lost four of their last six games overall, but they will be hoping to build some momentum after snapping a three-game skid with a 115-93 win over the Trail Blazers on Wednesday. Jayson Tatum led the team with 30 points on 11 of 17 shooting, Derrick White added 21 points with seven assists while Al Horford chipped in with 17 points, six rebounds and five assists. As a team, the Celtics shot 47 percent from the field and 18 of 49 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 35 points in the first quarter to take the early lead and they dominated until the lead ballooned out to 27 points.
Meanwhile, the Atlanta Hawks have been in decent shape as they’ve won five of their last eight games overall and they will be gunning for a third straight win after beating the Wizards in a 114-107 road win last night. Trae Young led the team with 28 points and nine assists, DeAndre Hunter added 18 points with seven rebounds while Dejounte Murray chipped in with 16 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. As a team, the Hawks shot 44 percent from the field and 15 of 31 from the 3-point line as they poured in 32 points in the second quarter to take control of the contest, before they made another push in the third quarter to lead by 13 points which was enough to hold off a late rally from the Wizards.
Looking at the betting trends, the Celtics are 1-7 ATS in their last eight games playing on two days rest. The Hawks are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games playing on zero days rest and 5-2 ATS in their last seven home games against a team with a road record above .600.
Head to head, the under is 5-2 in the last seven meetings in Atlanta and the under is 5-0 in the last five meetings overall.
The Celtics are a little shorthanded here as Payton Pritchard and Robert Williams are both out, while the Hawks don’t have a single player listed on the injury report. The Celtics still open as favorites despite their recent dip in form, but the Hawks were able to take down the Warriors in their last outing and I think they can pull off another upset in this spot.
