The Portland Trail Blazers invade the Wells Fargo Center to take on the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday night.
The Portland Trail Blazers have been in a slump as they’ve lost six of their last nine games overall and they will be hoping to bounce back after getting thrashed by the Celtics in a 115-93 road loss on Wednesday. Damian Lillard led the team with 27 points and eight assists but he just didn’t have enough help as Jerami Grant scored just 13 points while Cameron Reddish scored just 10 points. As a team, the Trail Blazers shot just 36 percent from the field and 11 of 39 from the 3-point line as they fell behind early and just never looked in the contest after scoring just 17 points in the second quarter to fall behind by 15 points going into halftime.
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers have been in great form as they’ve won nine of their last 12 games overall and they will be aiming for a fourth straight victory after making light work of the Timberwolves in a 117-94 road win on Tuesday. Joel Embiid led the team with 39 points, seven rebounds and four assists, Tyrese Maxey added 27 points with five assists while Tobias Harris tallied 10 points with 14 rebounds and four assists. As a team, the 76ers shot 49 percent from the field and 15 of 25 from the 3-point line as they dominated the second quarter by 34-18 to take control of the contest, before they ran away with it in the second half to make it a blowout.
Looking at the betting trends, the Trail Blazers are 1-5 ATS in their last six games against a team above .600, 4-13 ATS in their last 17 road games and 4-9-1 ATS in their last 14 games overall. The 76ers are 21-8 ATS in their last 29 home games and 11-4 ATS in their last 15 games following a win of more than 10 points.
Head to head, the over is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings overall, the Trail Blazers are 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings in Philadelphia and the Trail Blazers are 6-2-2 ATS in the last 10 meetings overall.
The Portland Trail Blazers could be shorthanded again as Anfernee Simons is considered questionable, while the 76ers don’t have a single player listed on the injury report. The Trail Blazers were able to build some momentum with a couple of wins on the trot before they got smoked by the Celtics in their last outing. I understand that the Trail Blazers could have Simons back in the lineup, but the 76ers are clearly the team in better form, they are at full health and they should be well-rested as they haven’t played since Tuesday.
