The Atlanta Hawks and the Washington Wizards duke it out once again at the Capital One Arena on Friday night.
The Atlanta Hawks have been in decent shape as they’ve won four of their last seven games overall and they will be eager to build some momentum after taking down the Wizards in a 122-120 road win on Wednesday. Trae Young led the way with 28 points and 10 assists on 11 of 14 shooting, Dejounte Murray added 17 points with six assists while De’Andre Hunter chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Hawks shot 52 percent from the field and 12 of 29 from the 3-point line as they struggled to contain the Wizards and fell behind by as many as 15 points, before they clawed their way back into the contest and poured 32 points in the fourth quarter to escape with the narrow win.
Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards have split their last six games and they will be looking for revenge after falling just short to the Hawks on Wednesday. Kristaps Porzingis led the team with a game-high 43 points on 17 of 22 shooting, Kyle Kuzma added 25 points with 10 rebounds and six assists while Bradley Beal chipped in with 24 points and eight assists. As a team, the Wizards shot 56 percent from the field and 12 of 29 from the 3-point line as they were seemingly in control for most of the game before their 17 turnovers came back to bite them in the fourth quarter.
Looking at the betting trends, the Hawks are 1-5 ATS in their last six road games and 1-5 ATS in their last six games playing on one days rest. The Wizards are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games against a team with a losing road record and 2-5 ATS in their last seven after scoring 100 points or more in their previous game.
Head to head, the under is 11-5 in the last 16 meetings in Washington, the Hawks are 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings in Washington and the Hawks are 2-6 ATS in the last eight meetings overall.
The Hawks haven’t been at their best lately, but they have all the players available and they would’ve taken plenty of confidence from their comeback victory on Wednesday. The Hawks will be kicking themselves that they weren’t able to put away the Hawks on Wednesday despite a monster game from Porzingis, but they got next to nothing from their role players which was the difference in a close contest. This one could go either way, but it’s always hard to beat the same team twice in a row in their own building, so I’ll back the Wizards to bounce back here.
