The Atlanta Hawks pay a visit to the Washington Wizards at the Capital One Arena on Wednesday night.
The Atlanta Hawks have been in a rut as they’ve lost five of their last eight games overall and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after falling just short to the Heat in a 130-128 road loss on Monday. Trae Young led the way with 25 points and seven assists on nine of 17 shooting, Dejounte Murray added 23 points with eight assists while John Collins and Saddiq Bey each scored 17 points. As a team, the Hawks shot 55 percent from the field and nine of 29 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 43 points in the first quarter to take an early 15-point lead, but they never put the Heat away and it cost them in the fourth quarter where the Heat poured in 38 points to snatch the game from them in a tight finish.
Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards have been in pretty good shape as they’ve won five of their last nine games overall and they will be eager to stay hot after sneaking past the lowly Pistons in a 119-117 road win last night. Bradley Beal led the team with 32 points, seven rebounds and seven assists, Kristaps Porzingis added 24 points while Kyle Kuzma chipped in with 23 points. As a team, the Wizards shot a healthy 58 percent from the field and 12 of 25 from the 3-point line as they struggled to find their groove and fell behind at halftime, before they flipped a switch and poured in 66 points in the second half to escape with the narrow win thanks to Daniel Gafford who made the game-winning tip shot at the buzzer.
Looking at the betting trends, the Hawks are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games and 1-4 ATS in their last five games playing on one days rest. The Wizards are 42-19-2 ATS in their last 63 games playing on zero days rest and 10-4 ATS in their last 14 games against a team with a losing record.
Head to head, the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings overall, the Hawks are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in Washington and the Hawks are 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings overall.
The Hawks don’t have a single player listed on the injury report, while the Wizards will again be missing Monte Morris for this one. The Hawks have struggled to build momentum despite having a healthy roster and they will be kicking themselves after dropping a winnable game against the Heat on Monday. The Wizards come into this meeting as the team in better form but they were far from convincing in their two-point win over the slumping Pistons last night. This is a tough one to pick, but the Wizards are 42-19-1 ATS in their last 63 games playing on zero days rest and I think they represent decent value as home underdogs in this one.
