The Washington Wizards and the Detroit Pistons duke it out at Little Caesars Arena on Tuesday night.
The Washington Wizards have been in decent shape as they’ve split their last eight games overall, but they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after falling short against the Bucks in a 117-111 loss on Sunday. Bradley Beal led the team with 33 points on 15 of 32 shooting, Kristaps Porzingis added 24 points with 13 rebounds and five assists while Deni Avdija chipped in with 17 points off the bench. As a team, the Wizards shot just 42 percent from the field and eight of 31 from the 3-point line as they struggled to keep up with the Bucks to start the game and had to rally their way back from a 17-point deficit, only to see the Bucks run away with it in the fourth quarter to slip away in the end.
Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons have been in terrible shape as they’ve lost 11 of their last 12 games overall and they will be hoping to put an end to an eight-game losing streak after falling short against the Trail Blazers in a 110-104 loss last night. Isaiah Livers led the team with 17 points, Cory Joseph added 14 points off the bench while Jaden Ivey tallied 13 points with 13 assists. As a team, the Pistons shot 46 percent from the field and 10 of 32 from the 3-point line as they got off to a poor start and scored just 18 points in the first quarter to fall behind by as many as 19 points which was a shame because they actually had finished with a flurry in the fourth quarter to make things interesting in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Wizards are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 road games, 10-4 ATS in their last 14 games against a team with a losing record and 4-0 ATS in their last four games against a team below. 400. The Pistons are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games against a team with a losing road record and 6-1 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record.
Head to head, the under is 7-2 in the last nine meetings overall and the Wizards are 2-6 ATS in the last eight meetings in Detroit.
The Wizards could be shorthanded again as Monte Morris and Kyle Kuzma are both questionable, while the Pistons have ruled out Jalen Duren and they are keeping eyes on Killian Hayes and Bojan Bogdanovic who are both day to day. The Wizards are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 road games and 10-4 ATS in their last 14 games against a team with a losing record, so I’m backing them to get the job done against this Pistons team who have nothing to play for at this stage of the season.
