The Portland Trail Blazers pay a visit to the Detroit Pistons at Little Caears Arena on Monday night.
The Portland Trail Blazers have been in a slump as they’ve lost five of their last seven games overall, but they will be eager to build some momentum after snapping a three-game skid with a 122-119 road win last night. Damian Lillard led the way with 31 points, nine rebounds and six assists, Jerami Grant added 20 points with seven assists while Cam Reddish chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Trail Blazers shot 47 percent from the field and 16 of 47 from the 3-point line as they poured in 34 points in the third quarter to take the narrow lead which they held until the final minute. It was Nassir Little who made the clutch 3-pointer to put the Trail Blazers ahead before Lillard put the finishing touches with free throws down the stretch.
Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons have been in a major slump as they’ve lost 10 of their last 11 games overall and they will be hoping to arrest a seven-game slide after getting thrashed by the Cavaliers in a 114-90 road loss on Saturday. Marvin Bagley led the team with 20 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks, Hamidou Diallo added 14 points off the bench while Jaden Ivey chipped in with 10 points. As a team, the Pistons shot just 40 percent from the field and six of 24 from the 3-point line as they kept pace with the Cavaliers in the first half, before getting completely destroyed by 42-22 in the third quarter to fall behind by as many as 35 points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Trail Blazers are 3-13 ATS in their last 16 road games, 6-0 ATS in their last six games against a team below .400 and 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall. The Pistons are 6-1 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record and 4-1 ATS in their last five home games against a team with a losing road record.
Head to head, the over is 15-7 in the last 22 meetings overall, the Trail Blazers are 3-7 ATS in the last 10 meetings in Detroit and the Trail Blazers are 5-0 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Trail Blazers are shorthanded again as Justise Winslow, Jusuf Nurkic and Anfernee Simons are all out, while the Pistons are keeping eyes on James Wiseman and Killian Hayes who are both questionable. The Trail Blazers are at a disadvantage here given that they are playing their second game of a back to back set, but they’re coming in as the team in better form and I think Lillard can lead the way to a much-needed win against a slumping Pistons team.
