The Brooklyn Nets play host to the Charlotte Hornets at the Barclays Center on Sunday night.
The Charlotte Hornets look to have cooled off from their five-game win streak as they are now hoping to snap a two-game skid after getting routed by the Magic in a 117-106 loss on Friday. Kelly Oubre Jr. led the team with 29 point and 10 rebounds, Terry Rozier added 22 points with six assists while Gordon Hayward chipped in with 17 points and seven assists. As a team, the Hornets shot 48 percent from the field and nine of 24 from the 3-point line as they struggled to keep pace with the Magic from the start and fell behind by as many as 24 points before they rallied in the fourth quarter to keep the final scores respectable.
Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets have been in a real funk as they’ve lost six of their last eight games overall and they will be looking to build some momentum after they put a stop to a four-game skid with a 115-105 upset road win over the Celtics on Friday. Mikal Bridges led the team with 38 points, 10 rebounds and four assists, Cameron Johnson added 20 points while Dorian Finney-Smith and Spencer Dinwiddie each scored 17 points. As a team, the Nets shot just 42 percent from the field and 14 of 44 from the 3-point line as they got off to a nightmarish start and scored just 15 points in the first quarter to fall behind by 28 points before they flipped the script and dominated the rest of the game to pull off their most impressive comeback win of the season.
Looking at the betting trends, the Hornets are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games, 1-7 ATS in their last eight games following a loss and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Nets are 7-2 ATS in their last nine home games and 5-0 ATS in their last five home games against a team with a losing road record.
Head to head, the under is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings overall.
The Hornets are shorthanded once again as LaMelo Ball is still out, while the Nets have listed Yuta Watanabe as questionable with Edmond Sumner and Ben Simmons both ruled out. The Hornets have gone off the boil since Ball fractured his ankle and they will be low on confidence after getting routed by the Magic on Friday. The Nets were really struggling to stay competitive since the big trade of Kevin Durant, but they looked like a different team against the Celtics and I think they can repeat that performance against this Hornets team who have little to play for. The Nets are 7-2 ATS in their last nine home games and I think that trend continues here as the Nets get the win.
