The Detroit Pistons pay a visit to the Cleveland Cavaliers at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse on Saturday night.
The Detroit Pistons have been in a real slump as they’ve lost nine of their last 10 games overall and they will be hoping to put an end to a six-game slide after falling short to the Bulls in a 117-115 loss on Wednesday. Bojan Bogdanovic led the team with 34 points on 11 of 21 shooting, Hamidou Diallo added 19 points off the bench while Jaden Ivey chipped in with 18 points. As a team, the Pistons shot 50 percent from the field and 14 of 35 from the 3-point line as they struggled early in the game and scored just 18 points in the second quarter to trail by as many as 21 points before they saw their ferocious fourth quarter rally come up just short in the end.
Meanwhile, the Cleveland Cavaliers have really gone off the boil as they’ve lost four of their last five games overall and they will be hoping to bounce back after getting beaten by the Celtics in a 117-113 road loss on Wednesday. Donovan Mitchell led the team with 44 points and five assists on 17 of 32 shooting from the field, Darius Garland added 29 points with nine assists and four steals while Evan Mobley chipped in with 12 points and 13 rebounds. As a team, the Cavaliers shot 48 percent from the field and 10 of 32 from the 3-point line as they kept pace with the Celtics in a tight contest, until they leaked 41 points in the third quarter to fall behind by 21 points. Still, the Cavaliers refused to give up and went on a run late in the fourth quarter to make it interesting at the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pistons are 0-4 ATS in their last four games against a team with a winning record and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Cavaliers are 23-11-1 ATS in their last 35 home games and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a losing record.
Head to head, the over is 6-2 in the last eight meetings in Cleveland and the Pistons are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in Cleveland.
The Pistons are again missing Jalen Duren, Alec Burks and Isaiah Stewart, while the Cavaliers don’t have a single player listed on the injury report. The Pistons have been one of the coldest teams in the league so it was a little surprising that they almost ran down a 21-point deficit in a narrow loss to the Bulls in their last outing, but I don’t think they will be close in this one, not against this Cavaliers team who are desperate for a win to get their season back on track. The Cavaliers are 23-11-1 ATS in their last 35 home games and I think that trend continues here as the Cavaliers roll to a much-needed win.
