The Brooklyn Nets and the Boston Celtics duke it out at the TD Garden on Friday night.
The Brooklyn Nets have been in terrible shape as they’ve lost six of their last seven games overall and they will be hoping to arrest a four-game slide after getting routed by the Knicks in a 142-118 road loss on Wednesday. Cameron Johnson led the team with 33 points on 13 of 18 shooting, Mikal Bridges added 21 points while Cam Thomas chipped in with 15 points off the bench. As a team, the Nets shot 46 percent from the field and 15 of 39 from the 3-point line, but they didn’t match the intensity of the Knicks early on and were always fighting a losing battle after getting outscored by 81-57 in the first half.
Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics have been in fine form as they’ve won eight of their last 10 games overall and they will be eager to stay hot after outlasting the Cavaliers in a 117-113 win on Wednesday. Jayson Tatum led the team with 41 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists, AL Horford added 23 points with 11 rebounds on eight of 10 shooting while Jaylen Brown chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Celtics shot 50 percent from the field and 16 of 32 from the 3-point line as they exploded for 41 points in the third quarter to build a 21-point lead, before they made their free throws at the end of the game to hold of a late rally from the Cavaliers.
Looking at the betting trends, the Nets are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games, 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Celtics are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games, 5-2 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall.
Head to head, the over is 6-1 in the last seven meetings in Boston and the Nets are 0-6 ATS in the last six meetings overall.
The Nets are again missing Ben Simmons and Yuta Watanabe, while the Celtics are coming into this one at full health. The Nets have really struggled to build any momentum since the big trade and they certainly didn’t look good against the Knicks on Wednesday, so I’ll happily stick with the more reliable Celtics to continue their strong form with another win and cover as they are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games.
