The Philadelphia 76ers pay a visit to the Dallas Mavericks at the American Airlines Center on Thursday night.
The Philadelphia 76ers have been in great form as they’ve won six of their last eight games overall and they will be eager to stay hot after beating the Heat in a 119-96 road win last night. Tyrese Maxey led the way with 27 points and seven assists, James Harden added 23 points with seven rebounds and five assists while Tobias Harris chipped in with 18 points and five assists. As a team, the 76ers shot 49 percent from the field and 15 of 39 from the 3-point line as they took control of the contest with a 37-15 second quarter and they never took their foot off the gas.
Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks have been in poor form as they’ve lost five of their last six games overall and they will be hoping to snap a two-game skid after falling just short to the Pacers in a 124-122 loss on Tuesday. Luka Doncic led the team with 30 points, eight rebounds and six assists, Kyrie Irving and Tim Hardaway Jr. each scored 16 points while Reggie Bullock chipped in with 14 points. As a team, the Mavericks shot 50 percent from the field and 12 of 37 from the 3-point line as they got off to another slow start and fell behind big when the Pacers exploded for 38 points in the second quarter and they just couldn’t get over the line despite exploding for 63 points in the second half.
Looking at the betting trends, the 76ers are 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games, 7-2 ATS in their last nine games playing on zero days rest and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Mavericks are 2-6 ATS in their last eight home games and 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall.
Head to head, the under is 5-0 in the last five meetings overall and the 76ers are 2-6 ATS in the last eight meetings in Dallas.
The 76ers are shorthanded again as Dewayne Dedmon is still out and Joel Embiid is listed as day to day, while the Mavericks are still missing Davis Bertans who is out with a calf injury. The 76ers have been rock-sold all season and they were able to make light work of the Heat last night despite the absence of Embiid who is questionable for this one. The Mavericks are getting better on the offensive end, but they’re still struggling on the defensive end and I think that will be the difference in this one. The 76ers are 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games and I think they get the win and cover in this spot.
