The Detroit Pistons pay a visit to the Charlotte Hornets at the Spectrum Center on Monday night.
The Detroit Pistons have been in terrible form as they’ve lost nine of their last 11 games overall and they will be hoping to put a halt to a four-game slide after falling just short to the Raptors in a 95-91 loss on Saturday. Marvin Bagley led the team with 21 points and 18 rebounds off the bench, Bojan Bogdanovic and Isaiah Livers each scored 11 points while James Wiseman chipped in with 10 points and 19 rebounds. As a team, the Pistons shot just 40 percent from the field and six of 24 from the 3-point line as they went back and forth with the Raptors in a really close contest, until the fourth quarter where the Raptors went on a pivotal 8-2 run to sneak away in a tight finish.
Meanwhile, the Charlotte Hornets have been one of the most disappointing teams all season, but they’ve sprung to life with four wins in a row after sneaking past the Heat in a 108-103 win on Saturday. Gordon Hayward led the team with 21 points, LaMelo Ball racked up 19 points with seven rebounds and 13 assists while Mark Williams chipped in with 18 points and 20 rebounds. As a team, the Hornets shot 43 percent from the field and 10 of 31 from the 3-point line, but this win was more about their effort on the defensive end as they held the Heat to just 16 points in the first quarter to jump out to an early double-digit lead, before they restricted the Heat to just 21 points in the third quarter to put the game to bed early.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pistons are 5-0 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall. The Hornets are 5-2 ATS in their last seven home games, 5-0 ATS in their last five games following a win and 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall.
Head to head, the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings overall and the under is 7-3-1 in the last 11 meetings in Charlotte.
The Pistons are going to be shorthanded again as Jalen Duren and Nerlens Noel are both out and they have Isaiah Stewart and Bojan Bogdanovic are both questionable, while the Hornets are likely going to be missing PJ Washington and Cody Martin for this one. The Pistons are coming into this one ice cold and they are going to be missing a couple key players, so I’ll happily side with the Hornets to continue their recent surge with another win in this one.
