The Miami Heat and the Milwaukee Bucks collide at the Fiserv Forum on Friday night.
The Miami Heat have been in a bit of a rut as they’ve lost five of their last nine games overall and they will be hoping to bounce back after getting routed by the Nets in a 116-105 road loss last Wednesday. Bam Adebayo led the team with 24 points, 13 rebounds and six assists, Gabe Vincent added 21 points while Max Strus chipped in with 18 points. As a team, the Heat shot 45 percent from the field and eight of 28 from the 3-point line as they got off to a decent start and took the lead going into halftime, but it was a totally different story in the second half where the Nets dominated thanks largely to Mikal Bridges who torched the Heat for 45 points on 17 of 24 shooting.
Meanwhile, the Milwaukee Bucks have been the hottest team in the league as they’ve reeled off 14 wins in their past 15 games and they will be aiming for a 13th straight victory after blowing past the Bulls in a 112-100 win last Thursday. Brook Lopez led the team with 33 points, seven rebounds and four blocks on 13 of 18 shooting, Jevon Carter added 22 points with six assists while Jrue Holiday chipped in with 15 points and nine assists. As a team, the Bucks shot 45 percent from the field and 18 of 47 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 34 points in the first quarter to take the early lead and they just kept their foot on the gas all night despite losing Giannis Antetokounmpo to a wrist injury in the first quarter.
Looking at the betting trends, the Heat are 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games, 0-4 ATS in their last four games against a team with a winning record and 1-6 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Bucks are 5-1 ATS in their last six games following a win and 5-1 ATS in their last six games overall.
Head to head, the over is 4-0 in the last four meetings in Milwaukee and the Heat are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Heat are shorthanded again as Kyle Lowry is still out indefinitely and Tyler Herro is listed as day to day, while the Bucks will be without Pat Connaughton, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Wesley Matthews. The Heat have a chance to snag a win from the Bucks while they’re shorthanded, but the Heat have been well below their best lately while the Bucks have been on fire during their 12-game win streak. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Heat pulled off the minor upset in this spot, but the Bucks played well without Antetokounmpo in their last outing and I think they can get the job done again at home.
