The Memphis Grizzlies and the Philadelphia 76ers do battle at the Wells Fargo Center on Thursday night.
The Memphis Grizzlies have been in decent shape as they’ve won three of their past four games overall and they will be hoping to stay hot after outlasting the Jazz in a 117-111 win last Wednesday. Jaren Jackson Jr. led the team wit 26 points, nine rebounds and five steals, Desmond Bane added 24 points while Ja Morant tallied 20 points with eight rebounds and nine assists. As a team, the Grizzlies shot just 40 percent from the field and 14 of 40 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 38 points in the first quarter to take an early 24-point lead which proved to be just enough as the Jazz rallied and reduced the lead to just one point late in the fourth quarter.
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers have been in fine form as they’ve won 13 of their last 16 games overall and they will be gunning for a fifth straight victory after beating the Cavaliers in a 118-112 win last Wednesday. Joel Embiid led the team with 29 points, 14 rebounds and five assists, James Harden tallied 19 points with 12 assists while De’Anthony Melton chipped in with 17 points. As a team, the 76ers shot 50 percent from the field and 13 of 27 from the 3-point line as they dominated the first half by 64-38, before they took their foot off the gas and had to hold off a late rally from the Cavaliers who made it interesting at the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Grizzlies are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record, 1-6 ATS in their last seven road games and 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games overall. The 76ers are 20-6 ATS in their last 26 home games and 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall.
Head to head, the over is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings overall, the Grizzlies are 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings in Philadelphia and the Grizzlies are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Grizzlies are shorthanded again as Steven Adams is still out with that knee injury, while the 76ers are keeping an eye on Furkan Korkmaz who is listed as day to day. The Grizzlies are starting to build some momentum after a tough stretch, but they almost blew a big lead against the struggling Jazz in their last outing and I still believe they are a much weaker team without Adams in the paint. The 76ers are coming into this one as one of the hottest teams in the league and they are a solid 20-6 ATS in their last 26 home games. With that being said, I’ll stick with the 76ers to take care of business at home.
