The New York Knicks invade the State Farm Arena to take on the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday night.
The New York Knicks have been in pretty good form lately as they've won five of their past seven games overall and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after making light work of the Nets in a 124-106 home win on Monday. Jalen Brunson led the team with 40 points on 15 of 21 shooting, Josh Hart added 27 points on 10 of 14 shooting off the bench while Julius Randle chipped in with 18 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. As a team, the Knicks shot 54 percent from the field and 15 of 34 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in trouble when they leaked 35 points in the second quarter to fall behind going into halftime, but they dominated the second half by 66-45 to blow away the Nets with ease in the end thanks to some hot shooting from Brunson who barely missed all night.
Meanwhile, the Atlanta Hawks have been in a bit of a slump as they’ve lost five of their last nine games overall and they will be hoping to bounce back after falling short to the Hornets in a 144-138 road loss on Monday. Trae Young led the team with 25 points and 14 assists, Clint Capela added 22 points with seven rebounds and three assists, De’Andre Hunter scored 21 points while Dejounte Murray chipped in with 20 points. As a team, the Hawks shot 49 percent from the field and 11 of 28 from the 3-point line, but that still wasn’t enough to hang with the Hornets who exploded for 74 points in the first half and just never took their foot off the gas. The Hawks never led in this one and they actually trailed in this one by as many as 17 points before they poured in 42 points in the fourth quarter to keep the final scores respectable.
Looking at the betting trends, the Knicks are 28-11 ATS in their last 39 road games, 7-3-1 ATS in their last 11 games following a win of more than 10 points and 3-1-1 ATS in their last five games overall. The Hawks are 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a loss and 17-5 ATS in their last 22 home games against a team with a winning road record.
Head to head, the over is 25-12 in the last 37 meetings in Atlanta and the Knicks are 9-4-1 ATS in the last 14 meetings in Atlanta.
The Knicks are again missing Mitchell Robinson who is still out, while the Hawks are keeping an eye on John Collins who is questionable for this one with hip soreness. The Knicks come into this meeting as the team in better form, but the Hawks hold the edge in this matchup and they’ve already beaten the Knicks in two of three meetings this season, so unless Brunson can put up another big game, I’ll be going with the Hawks to take care of business in this spot.
