The Houston Rockets and the Philadelphia 76ers collide at the Wells Fargo Center on Monday night.
The Houston Rockets have been in a slump as they’ve lost seven of their last nine games overall, and they will be eager to put an end to a five-game slide after falling just short to the Heat in a 97-95 road loss on Friday. Jabari Smith Jr led the team with 22 points and eight rebounds, Kenyon Martin Jr added 17 points with six rebounds and three assists while Alperen Sengun chipped in with 12 points, eight rebounds and three assists. As a team, the Rockets shot just 41 percent from the field and seven of 30 from the 3-point line as they went back and forth with the Heat in a game that looked destined for overtime, before the Heat’s Jimmy Butler made the game-winning alley oop dunk to steal the win on the final play of the game.
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers have been in great shape as they’ve won 11 of their last 14 games overall and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after sneaking past the Nets in a 101-98 road win on Saturday. Joel Embiid led the team with 37 points and 13 rebounds on 12 of 18 shooting, James Harden added 29 points with six rebounds and six assists while Tyrese Maxey chipped in with 12 points, but no other player finished in double figures in scoring. As a team, the 76ers shot 44 percent from the field and six of 23 from the 3-point line as they struggled to contain the Nets early on and trailed by 12 points, before they rallied behind their defense and held the Nets to just 16 points in the fourth quarter to snatch the game in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Rockets are 2-9 ATS in their last 11 road games, 4-10 ATS in their last 16 games against a team with a winning record and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games overall. The 76ers are 18-6 ATS in their last 24 home games and 6-1 ATS in their last seven games against a team below .400.
Head to head, the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings overall and the Rockets are 2-8 ATS in the last 10 meetings in Philadelphia.
The Rockets are again shorthanded as Kevin Porter Jr is out while the 76ers have listed Shake Milton and Joel Embiid as questionable for this one. The Rockets have been in terrible form, but they were more than competitive in their narrow loss to the Heat on Friday, but the 76ers are coming into this one as one of the hottest teams in the league and they remain the heavy favorites regardless of whether Embiid plays or not. With that being said, the Rockets are only 2-8 ATS in the last 10 meetings in Philadelphia and I expect that trend to continue here as the 76ers take care of business at home.
