The Memphis Grizzlies pay a visit to the Boston Celtics at the TD Garden on Sunday afternoon.
The Memphis Grizzlies have been in poor form as they’ve lost eight of their last 11 games overall, but they will be gunning for a third straight victory after making light work of the Timberwolves in a 128-107 win on Friday. Ja Morant led the team with 32 points, nine rebounds and nine assists, Desmond Bane added 20 points with seven rebounds and five assists while Santi Aldama chipped in with 18 points on six of eight shooting off the bench. As a team, the Grizzlies shot 58 percent from the field and 10 of 25 from the 3-point line as they took control of the contest with a 38-point explosion in the second quarter to take the early lead and they didn’t take their foot off the gas as they outscored the Timberwolves by 59-49 in the second half to make it a complete blowout.
Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics have been in decent shape as they’ve won five of their last six games overall and they will be aiming for a fourth straight victory after beating the Hornets in a 127-116 win on Friday. Jayson Tatum led the team with 41 points on 13 of 21 shooting, Derrick White added 33 points with 10 assists while Sam Hauser chipped in with 12 points. As a team, the Celtics shot 49 percent from the field and a sizzling 25 of 55 from the 3-point line as they dominated right from the start, pouring in 71 points in the first half to open a 28-point lead which allowed them to cruise in the second half.
Looking at the betting trends, the Grizzlies are 1-5 ATS in their last six road games, 5-2 ATS in their last seven games against a team above .600 and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games following a win of more than 10 points. The Celtics are 4-0 ATS in their last four games against a team above .600, 13-6 ATS in their last 19 games following a win of more than 10 points and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the over is 25-7 in the last 32 meetings overall, the Grizzlies are 2-6 ATS in the last eight meetings in Boston and the Grizzlies are 4-10 ATS in the last 14 meetings overall.
The Grizzlies are shorthanded again as Steven Adams is still out with that knee injury, while the Celtics are going to be missing Marcus Smart and Jaylen Brown for this one. The Grizzlies were mired in their worst slump of the season before they snapped out of it with a couple of wins on the trot, so it’s hard to back the Grizzlies over the Celtics who have been one of the most consistent teams all season. Yes, the Celtics are banged up with Smart and Brown out injured, but the Celtics have shown that nothing really slows them down which is why they’re favorites in this spot. The Grizzlies are only 1-5 ATS in their last six road games and 4-10 ATS in the last 14 meetings overall. With that being said, I’ll lean towards the Celtics at the short line to get the job done here.
