The Indiana Pacers invade the Capital One Arena to take on the Washington Wizards on Saturday night.
The Indiana Pacers have been in terrible shape as they’ve lost 14 of their last 16 games overall and they will be hoping to snap a three-game slide after getting scorched by the Suns in a 117-104 loss last night. Bennedict Mathurin led the team with 22 points off the bench, Tyrese Haliburton added 18 points on seven of nine shooting while Buddy Hield and Isaiah Jackson each scored 14 points. As a team, the Pacers shot 42 percent from the field and 11 of 39 from the 3-point line as they struggled to make their opens shots early on and fell behind by 13 points going into halftime and things only got worse in the third quarter where the Suns poured in 35 points to push the margin out to 26 points.
Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards have won seven of their last 10 games overall and they will be looking to stay hot after snapping a three-game skid with a 118-104 win over the Hornets on Wednesday. Kristaps Porzingis led the team with 36 points, nine rebounds and two blocks, Deni Avdija added 20 points with 13 rebounds while Bradley Beal chipped in with 17 points and 10 assists. As a team, the Wizards shot 50 percent from the field and 15 of 37 from the 3-point line as they struggled to gain any separation from the Hornets until the third quarter where they locked down defensively and held the Hornets to just 15 points to set up the much-needed victory.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pacers are 1-7 ATS in their last eight road games, 13-5 ATS in their last 18 games against a team with a losing record and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games overall. The Wizards are 5-1 ATS in their last six games against a team with a losing record and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall.
Head to head, the over is 7-2-1 in the last 10 meetings overall and the Pacers are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in Washington.
The Pacers have been one of the coldest teams in the league for a while now and it’s going to be tough for them to get back up after last night’s big loss to the Suns, but it’s hard to get too confident about the Wizards who were on an ugly three-game skid before they took down the Hornets which isn’t much of an accomplishment these days. You couldn’t bet on either team with much confidence of a return, but the Wizards should be well-rested as they haven’t played since Wednesday and the Pacers are only 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in Washington. With that being said, I’ll go with the Wizards to get the job done at home.
