The Miami Heat and the Orlando Magic duke it out at the Amway Center on Saturday night.
The Miami Heat have been in decent shape as they’ve won six of their last nine games overall and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after sneaking past the Rockets in a 97-95 win last night. Tyler Herro led the team with 31 points, nine rebounds and eight assists, Bam Adebayo added 20 points with nine rebounds on seven of 11 shooting while Jimmy Butler chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Heat shot 41 percent from the field and 12 of 38 from the 3-point line as they went back and forth with the Rockets in a close contest, until the final play where the Heat’s Jimmy Butler made the game-winning alley oop dunk to snatch the game at the buzzer.
Meanwhile, the Orlando Magic have been in decent shape as they’ve won four of their last six games and they will be looking to stay hot after pulling off a big upset against the Nuggets in a 115-104 win on Thursday. Wendell Carter Jr. led the team with 19 points on seven of 11 shooting, Bol Bol and Cole Anthony each scored 17 points off the bench while Paolo Banchero chipped in with 11 points and 10 rebounds. As a team, the Magic shot 48 percent from the field and nine of 27 from the 3-point line as they exploded for 36 points in the second quarter to erase an early 12-point deficit, before they held the Nuggets to just 20 points in the fourth quarter to pull away and complete the upset.
Looking at the betting trends, the Heat are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games, 4-10-1 ATS in their last 15 games playing on zero days rest and 7-18-1 ATS in their last 26 games against a team with a losing record. The Magic are 11-5 ATS in their last 16 home games, 14-4 ATS in their last 18 games against a team with a winning record and 23-9 ATS in their last 32 games overall.
Head to head, the over is 16-7-1 in the last 24 meetings in Orlando and the Heat are 2-7 ATS in the last nine meetings overall.
The Heat are still shorthanded as Victor Oladipo, Duncan Robinson and Kyle Lowry are all out again, while the Magic are keeping an eye on Gary Harris who is questionable for this one. The Heat were far from convincing in their narrow win over the lowly Rockets last night, but the bottom line is that they were playing below their best and still managed to get the job done when it mattered. The Magic come into this meeting with plenty of momentum themselves and they would’ve taken so much confidence from their dominant win over the Nuggets on Thursday. I would’ve been tempted to take the Magic if we were getting more free points, but with the line at basically a pick’em, I’ll lean towards the Heat to get the win on the road in this spot.
