The Phoenix Suns and the Indiana Pacers collide at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Friday night.
The Phoenix Suns have been in great form as they’ve won nine of their last 12 games overall, but they will be looking to bounce back in this one after having their three-game win streak halted by the Hawks in a 116-107 loss last night. Josh Okogie led the team with 25 points on nine of 17 shooting off the bench, DeAndre Ayton added 23 points on 10 of 15 shooting while Chris Paul tallied 15 points with five rebounds and eight assists. As a team, the Suns shot 45 percent from the field and seven of 30 from the 3-point line, but they really struggled to find their offense to start the game and it cost them as they were always fighting an uphill battle after falling behind by 20 points.
Meanwhile, the Indiana Pacers have been in a major slump as they’ve lost 13 of their last 15 games overall and they will be eager to avoid a third straight defeat after falling just short to the Heat in a 116-111 road loss on Wednesday. Buddy Hield led the team with 29 points on 10 of 18 shooting, Myles Turner added 21 points with 10 rebounds and two blocks, TJ McConnell scored 18 points with six assists off the bench while Tyrese Haliburton tallied 11 points with 10 assists. As a team, the Pacers shot 48 percent from the field and 15 of 33 from the 3-point line as they exploded for 33 points in the second quarter to overcome an early 16-point deficit, but they couldn’t find their offense when it mattered most as they were right in the contest until they went scoreless during a 3:25 stretch in the fourth quarter.
Looking at the betting trends, the Suns are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games playing on zero days rest, 5-1 ATS in their last six games against a team with a losing record and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games overall. The Pacers are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 home games, 2-7 ATS in their last nine games against a team with a winning record and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 10-4 in the last 14 meetings overall and the Suns are 8-3 ATS in the last 11 meetings in Indiana.
The Suns are shorthanded for this one as Devin Booker, Cameron Payne and Landry Shamet are all out, while the Pacers are keeping eyes on Jordan Nwora and George Hill who are both listed as day to day. The Suns were on a roll before they ran into the Hawks last night, but I like them to bounce back here even though they’re still shorthanded. The Pacers are mired in their worst slump of the season and they are only 2-7 ATS in their last nine games against a team with a winning record. The Suns are playing their second game of a back to back set, but they are 8-3 ATS in the last 11 meetings in Indiana and I like that trend to continue here as the Suns should be too good.
