The Utah Jazz and the Toronto Raptors do battle at the Scotiabank Arena on Friday night.
The Utah Jazz have been in decent form as they’ve won seven of their last 13 games overall and they will be hoping to avoid a fourth straight defeat after getting thrashed by the Timberwolves in a 143-118 loss on Wednesday. Collin Sexton led the team with 22 points and five assists, Lauri Markkanen added 21 points while Walker Kessler chipped in with 16 points, nine rebounds and three blocks. As a team, the Jazz shot just 41 percent from the field and 12 of 34 from the 3-point line, but they had one of their worst defensive performances on the season, allowing 44 points in the second quarter to fall behind by, before they allowed another 40 points in the third quarter to fall behind by as many as 31 points. Rudy Gay had a rough game as he scored just nine points on three of 12 shooting off the bench while Jordan Clarkson finished with just eight points on three of 13 shooting.
Meanwhile, the Toronto Raptors have been in fine form as they’ve won six of their last nine games overall and they will be gunning for a fourth straight victory after blowing past the Spurs in a 112-98 home win on Wednesday. Pascal Siakam led the team with 37 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists, Chris Boucher provided the spark off the bench with 18 points, 11 rebounds, three steals and three blocks, while Fred VanVleet chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Raptors shot 48 percent from the field and 10 of 28 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 34 points in the first quarter, before they poured in another 31 points in the third quarter to push the lead out to 18 points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Jazz are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games following a loss of more than 10 points and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games following a loss. The Raptors are 6-1 ATS in their last seven home games and 2-6 ATS in their last eight games following a win of more than 10 points.
Head to head, the over is 15-7 in the last 22 meetings overall, the Jazz are 0-4 ATS in the last four meetings in Toronto and the Jazz are 5-17 ATS in the last 22 meetings overall.
The Jazz recently acquired Russell Westbrook in a trade, but he won’t be available yet, while the Raptors have ruled out OG Anunoby again and they have Jakob Poeltl as day to day. The Jazz have cooled off lately and they will be low on confidence after losing big to the Timberwolves on Wednesday, while the Raptors have reeled off three wins in a row and they are 17-5 ATS in the last 22 meetings overall. With that being said, I’ll lean towards the Raptors to take care of business at home in this one.
