The San Antonio Spurs pay a visit to the United Center to do battle with the Chicago Bulls on Monday night.
The San Antonio Spurs have been in a major slump as they’ve lost 13 of their last 14 games overall and they will be hoping to put a halt to an eight-game slide after getting thrashed by the 76ers in a 137-125 loss on Friday. Malaki Branham led the team with 26 points on 11 of 16 shooting, Keldon Johnson added 18 points while Jakob Poeltl chipped in with 16 points, 10 rebounds and five assists. As a team, the Spurs shot a sizzling 58 percent from the field and seven of 21 from the 3-point line as they struggled to contain the 76ers and allowed 47 points in the second quarter to fall behind by double-digits and things only got worse in the third quarter where they trailed by as many as 23 points at one stage.
Meanwhile, the Chicago Bulls have been in decent shape as they’ve won six of their last nine games overall and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after beating the Trail Blazers in a 129-121 home win on Saturday. Zach LaVine led the team with 36 points, six rebounds and five assists, DeMar DeRozan added 27 points with seven rebounds and seven assists while Nikola Vucevic chipped in with 23 points, 11 rebounds and four assists. As a team, the Bulls shot 60 percent from the field and 12 of 26 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in deep trouble when they leaked 43 points in the second quarter to fall behind by 17 points, but they won behind their defense, holding the Trail Blazers to just 17 points in the third quarter to set up the impressive comeback win.
Looking at the betting trends, the Spurs are 6-14 ATS in their last 20 road games, 0-4 ATS in their last four games against a team with a losing record and 0-7 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Bulls are 8-2-1 ATS in their last 11 home games, 6-2 ATS in their last eight games against a team below .400 and 15-7-1 ATS in their last 23 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 6-1-1 in the last eight meetings in Chicago, the Spurs are 2-6 ATS in the last eight meetings in Chicago and the Spurs are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings overall.
The Spurs are shorthanded for this one as Romeo Langford and Jeremy Sochan are both out, while Tre Jones and Keldon Johnson are both questionable. The Bulls could be shorthanded also as Alex Caruso and Patrick Williams are both listed as questionable. The Spurs are mired in their worst slump of the season and they could be seriously depleted for this one. The Spurs are only 2-6 ATS in the last eight meetings in Chicago and they are 0-7 ATS in their last seven games overall, so I’ll stick with the Bulls to earn their third straight victory in this one.
