The Los Angeles Clippers and the Brooklyn Nets duke it out at the Barclays Center on Monday night.
The Los Angeles Clippers have been in great form as they’ve won seven of their last nine games overall and they will be aiming to stay hot after outlasting the Knicks in a 134-128 overtime road win on Saturday. Kawhi Leonard led the team with 35 points on 11 of 23 shooting, Paul George added 30 points with eight rebounds and five assists while Norman Powell chipped in with 24 points on eight of 17 shooting off the bench. As a team, the Clippers shot 47 percent from the field and 16 of 37 from the 3-point line as they squandered a 17-point lead in the fourth quarter, before they made up for it with 19 points in overtime to avoid an embarrassing loss.
Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets have been in decent form as they’ve won five of their last eight games overall and they will be looking to build some momentum after outlasting the Wizards in a 125-123 win on Saturday. Cam Thomas led the team with a season-high 44 points on 16 of 23 shooting off the bench, Edmond Sumner added 29 points while Nic Claxton chipped in with 15 points, 13 rebounds and five assists. As a team, the Nets shot 50 percent from the field and 14 of 33 from the 3-point line as they got off to a terrible start and fell behind by 23 points early, but they never gave up and exploded for 70 points in the second half to pull off their best comeback win of the season so far.
Looking at the betting trends, the Clippers are 6-1 ATS in their last seven road games, 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and 7-1 ATS in their last eight games overall.
Head to head, the over is 7-2 in the last nine meetings overall, the Clippers are 4-17 ATS in the last 21 meetings in Brooklyn and the Clippers are 7-19 ATS in the last 26 meetings overall.
The Clippers will again be without John Wall who remains without a timetable for his return, while the Nets are keeping an eye on Ben Simmons who is questionable for this one. The Clippers come into this one as the more settled team in better form and they would’ve taken plenty of confidence from their gritty overtime win over the Knicks in their last outing. The Nets juts made a move to re-acquire Spencer Dinwiddie and ship of Kyrie Irving, so I expect the role players to step up with this fresh start, but that won’t sway me against picking the more consistent Clippers who are in a groove right now.
