The Boston Celtics pay a visit to the Detroit Pistons at Little Caesars Arena on Monday night.
The Boston Celtics have been in a bit of a rut as they’ve lost four of their last six games overall and they will be hoping to bounce back after getting routed by the Suns in a 106-94 loss on Friday. Jaylen Brown led the team with 27 points, eight rebounds and four assists, Jayson Tatum added 20 points with six rebounds and five assists while Derrick White chipped in with 19 points, eight rebounds and four assists. As a team, the Celtic shot just 38 percent from the field and 10 of 38 from the 3-point line as they sleepwalked their way through the first half and had to claw back from an early 20-point deficit, only to go cold and score just 21 points in the fourth quarter to allow the Suns to pull away and snap their two-game win streak.
Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons have been in a slump as they’ve lost 10 of their last 13 games overall and they will be hoping to bounce back after getting scorched by the Suns in a 116-100 loss on Saturday. Saddiq Bey led the team in scoring with 25 points, five rebounds and four assists off the bench, Bojan Bogdanovic added 23 points on eight of 17 shooting while Isaiah Stewart chipped in with 17 points and nine rebounds. As a team, the Pistons shot 43 percent from the field and 16 of 42 from the 3-point line as they struggled to match the Suns from the start and got outscored in every quarter in a game where they trailed by as many as 22 points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Celtics are 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a loss, 3-8-1 ATS in their last 12 games against a team with a losing record and 1-7 ATS in their last eight games overall. The Pistons are 1-6 ATS in their last seven home games, 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven games against a team above .600 and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 7-2-3 in the last 12 meetings in Detroit, the Celtics are 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings in Detroit and the Celtics are 2-8 ATS in the last 10 meetings overall.
The Celtics will be a little shorthanded again as Marcus Smart remains without a clear timetable for his return, while the Pistons are keeping an eye on Isaiah Stewart who is listed as questionable due to left hip soreness. The Celtics have cooled off over their past six games or so, but they’re still in much better form compared to the Pistons who have struggled all season. The betting trends don’t favor the Celtics who are only 2-8 ATS in the last 10 meetings overall and the line is quite hefty, but the Celtics have had plenty of time off to dwell on their loss to the Suns on Friday, so I think they’ll come out swinging and take control of this one early.
